W2MO is based on a predetermined time system. For typical elemental motions in logistics (both warehouse or production) timings are available (or can be given by the user). These elemental motions are aggregated to calculate the work efforts for any human work activity in warehousing or production:
The W2MO predetermined time system may use timings out of different sources. Alternatively timings can be recorded using the W2MO video process studies:
Throughout all planning processes (e.g. storage area allocation, round trip optimization, case pack portfolio optimization) each process is planned with the highest possible efficiency. Each process alternative can be evaluated using the W2MO predetermined times system. Based on that the mathematical optimization algorithm can chose/create the most efficient process.
For each logistic process or task modeled in the layout W2MO can calculate a target time using the W2MO predetermined times system. I.e., each employee knows the target time for a specific tasks. This is the same concept that has already been successfully implemented in manufacturing industries. Practical results show that W2MO is able to predict target times within +/- 5% of the effective times achieved afterwards.
W2MO continuously compares the obtained target times with the effective times. In case of major deviations the stored timings can be calibrated accordingly, i.e. to take into account specific characteristics of a certain layout. This information can be used in order to identify inefficiencies and potentials for improvements, but also to award more productive employees.
Additionally, target times for all tasks enable precise forecasts of workloads, which is the basis for an advanced staff planning.
